I can’t believe it’s August already. How did that happen? It seems like yesterday it was April and I was coming off a long winter of writing.
Yes, I know about the earth rotating and days and nights but the cool, sweetness of April… I miss you.
So where have I been and what have I been doing?
This is the story of a working vacation.
For starters, I took some time off. I suggest everyone try this. Truly. Writers. Readers. Everyone.
I turned off the computer and got to work on all those little projects that have stacked up over the years. Painting, organizing, gardening.
I kept on chugging away through May.
I’m not sure if you can go cold turkey the way I did but there’s something amazing and refreshing about such a drastic change.
It honestly makes me wonder if after a month of eating off of paper plates if I’d miss washing the dishes. Yeah, I doubt that’ll happen either. But it’s an interesting idea.
What could you give up for a month?
TV? Books? Maybe even household chores; time to call in a cleaning lady!
After May it got hot out. So much for relaxing through hard work outside. So I came inside and started redesigning my website and putting my backlist into print.
Not as physically hard on my feet but oh my aching back. There’s a chair story in there but that’ll take too much time today. Suffice to say that I spent a lot of time at the computer in June and July.
And then I spent a good deal of time prepping for the Authors After Dark conference. More about that later too. In fact, that about catches us up.
Good bye April, May, June, and July. You slipped between my fingers but I enjoyed my break. Now I’m back in the saddle and taking August by the horns.
How’s your summer been?
Have you gone on vacation?
Done anything interesting? Exciting?
Been wondering where you disappeared to. Glad to know you’re alive and well. Congrats on finishing the book. That had to feel good. So ready to read something new from you.
I’m ready for you to read something new from me! 🙂
Good morning Selena, hate to tell you this but August is just about gone too! Say hello to Fall! Time for pumpkins and Halloween just around the corner. Glad to hear you had some off time and waiting eagerly for your newest book release!!
Yes, autumn is just around the corner. I’ll admit I’m ready for some cooler weather and sweaters!
We bought our first “It’s all ours” house! There was a lot of painting (the colors didn’t feel like home) and unpacking, it felt like Christmas in July since midst of it had been in storage for over a year. I’m going to have to call this a great summer.
That sounds awesome! I’m so happy for you. What a thrilling time in your life. What colors did you pick?
Love your books!!!
Glad to hear it Heather!
TV if I absolutely had to.
The question is, TV or TV on the internet? Like netflix or Amazon prime? Right now I’m in love with The Blacklist and I don’t think I could give it up!
Hi from Canada! 😉 Hope you had a grand time during the summer as fall is quickly falling on summer’s heels (then of course there’s Christmas…….I know, I know,I know, I’m pushing it, but look how fast SUMMER went) Hope you’re ready for Labor Day Week-End! 😀
*waving back from South Carolina* Someone just mentioned only 19 fridays till Christmas. Or was it 18? Tick tock!
